I have been taking note of the bad stories relative to reverse mortgages and the varacity is that most people chatter about the idea very tentatively, I cannot help but speculate whether this is as a result of the demographics of those taking out equity release. Furthemore the more suspect mortgage refinance lender corporations have been brushed beneath the rug and dispelled as a less worthy cause of upset, reverse mortgages is now entirely seen to by the FS Authority yet continuously has blemishes encircling it.

The differences between these duo? One is targeted at everyone whilst the other is pointed to 55+s. This age specific targeting, I reason, has intensified the concern. Selling to the plus 55s has the same coloring of helplessness that comes with advertising unhealthy products to children.

What agitates my self is the fact that in every other market or situation; mature householders are considered the most wise; the clever beings that most seek counsel and admonition from. So for what excuse, when it comes to anything internet or any type of financial product, do we treat the 55+s with children’s gloves? Stepping in like a defiant cavalier to cherish them from their own decisions. Do we suppose for one minute that they are ridiculously stumbling in the night. No I thought not.
